What is your favorite book?

Too many: Dan Simmons’s Hyperion Cantos, Neil Gaiman’s The Ocean at the End of the Lane, Kevin Brockmeier’s The Brief History of the Dead, Iain M. Banks’s Look to Windward, and Mikhail Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita all vie for the top spot, but the one I turn to the most is Mark Helprin’s The Winter’s Tale.

Where is your favorite place to relax?

On a long walk, ideally on the path around the horse field at my parents’ house

What is the most bizarre job you’ve ever had (aside from BADA!)?

I spent two summers working as a lifeguard at a pool where no one ever swam!

What is the best meal you’ve ever eaten?

Duck and Cherry Pie with a glass of old vine Chenin Blanc in Stellenbosch, South Africa
